Saturday evening I watched film LOUIS VUITTON & MARC JACOBS at Festival Baltic Pearl. Contemporary history of fashion house Louis Vuitton in its creative director’s Marc Jacobs interpretation. This film shows behind  the scenes of contemporary fashion industry, where camera goes to capture not only closed fashion shows or boutiques openings, but the core of the cult brand studio itself.
Knowing little about the fashion world, for sure a lot of people have been expecting this to be a film about the history of two haute couture power houses, and was  pleasantly surprised when it actually turned out to be the story of an artist.  Following Marc Jacobs from show to show, as him and his team build and remodel designs at a neck breaking pace, the filmmaker leads the viewer through a journey which ultimately leads towards a better appreciation of high fashion as a truly unique art form.

With seemingly unlimited access to the workshops and houses, Marc Jacobs is disarmingly pleasant to watch. As the first American designer to be creative director of the Louis Vuitton fashion house, the film does a good job of explaining how and why he and his designs are so successful. The documentary also discusses his work in contrast between his projects at his eponymous design house and how they differ (or resemble) those at the legendary Louis Vuitton.

Marc Jacobs  ( 09/30/1963) is an American fashion designer. He is the head designer for Marc Jacobs, as well as Marc by Marc Jacobs, a diffusion line, with more than 200 retail stores in 80 countries. He has been the creative director of the French design house Louis Vuitton since 1997. (wikipedia)

The film is a big inspiration! I think Marc Jacobs is an amazing talented person! I'm still excited and for sure this film will be in the list - Films that changed my life and inspire me!

Recommend to watch it!
